  • Warranty, Safety and Legal

Warranty claims, after-sales service, conformity documents and safety advice.

How do I make a warranty claim?

If you bought your eBike directly from Legend eBikes, use our contact form or email support@legendebikes.com. If you bought it from a dealer or marketplace, contact that seller first because they are responsible for processing the claim through the original sales channel.

Contact us before arranging a repair. Repairs or workshop work must be authorised in writing in advance if you expect Legend eBikes to cover the cost.

    Include:

    • Your purchase invoice or order number.
    • The model and serial number or eSN.
    • A clear description of the problem and when it started.
    • Photos or videos showing the fault.
    • Maintenance records, if requested.
    • Your contact details and suitable times for a call.

We normally reply within one working day. More complex cases may take longer. Messages received at weekends or on public holidays are handled on the next working day.

If the fault could affect steering, braking, the frame, the battery or another safety-critical part, stop using the eBike until it has been assessed.

The commercial warranty that applies depends on the purchase date and sales channel. See the current warranty terms. These terms do not restrict any statutory consumer rights that apply to your purchase.

    How does after-sales service work?

Start by using our assistance and repairs service, the contact form or support@legendebikes.com.

Send the model, serial number, order or invoice number, a description of the problem, any error code, photos or videos, your telephone number and suitable contact times.

Our team will first try to diagnose the issue remotely. Depending on the case, we may send a replacement part, coordinate work with an authorised local workshop or arrange collection of the eBike.

Parts and labour are covered only when the claim has been accepted under the applicable warranty. Obtain written approval before authorising workshop work. Routine maintenance, adjustments and wear parts are not manufacturing defects unless the applicable terms specifically state otherwise. We will provide or approve a quotation when the work is not covered.

What safety checks should I perform?

Read the user manual before your first ride. Follow the traffic rules, age requirements and equipment requirements that apply where you ride.

    Before every ride

    • Make sure all folding hinges, safety catches and quick-release levers are fully closed and secure.
    • Check that both wheels and axles are secure and that the wheels rotate freely.
    • Inflate the tyres to the pressure marked on their sidewalls. Check for cuts, damage, excessive wear or embedded objects.
    • Test both brakes. The levers, callipers, discs and pads must be secure and operate correctly.
    • Check the handlebar, stem, saddle and seatpost. Do not raise the seatpost beyond its minimum-insertion mark.
    • Check the chain, chainring, cassette and derailleur for damage or abnormal movement.
    • Make sure the lights and reflectors work and are clean.
    • Make sure the battery is correctly seated and locked. Remove the battery key before riding.
    • Check visible cables and electrical connectors for damage.
    • Secure the rear rack, mudguards, kickstand, panniers and any other accessories. Stay within all load limits.
    • Check for loose fasteners, cracks, excessive play or unusual noises.

Do not ride if you find a crack, loose safety-critical part, weak brake, steering play, damaged battery, electrical error or any other fault that may affect control of the eBike. Contact a qualified bicycle workshop or Legend eBikes support.

    Ride responsibly

    • Wear an approved helmet and visible clothing. Use gloves, eye protection and closed shoes where appropriate.
    • Keep clothing, fingers and other objects away from the chain, chainring, pedals, cranks and wheels.
    • Ride at a speed appropriate for the traffic, surface, weather and visibility.
    • Do not use headphones or any device that prevents you from hearing traffic.
    • Do not hold on to another moving vehicle.
    • Do not ride under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that impairs your ability to ride safely.
    • Carry a passenger only with equipment approved for the eBike and never exceed the permitted load.
    • Avoid jumps, wheelies and use outside the conditions specified for your model.

For guidance in Spain, see the DGT's rules for cyclists and equipment advice.

    Rain and wet conditions

Wet surfaces reduce grip and increase braking distance. Slow down, brake earlier and more gradually, avoid sharp turns and make yourself easy to see.

Do not immerse the eBike, ride through water deep enough to reach electrical components or clean it with a pressure washer. After a wet ride, dry the eBike and store it in a ventilated place. Water damage caused by immersion, pressure washing or other misuse is assessed under the applicable warranty terms.

    Low light and night riding

Use working front and rear lights and clean reflectors. Wear reflective clothing, reduce your speed and choose a well-lit route where possible. Reflectors do not replace lights.

    Adjustments after delivery

Transport and initial use can make minor brake or derailleur adjustments necessary. If you bought online and notice an issue during the initial adjustment period stated in your warranty terms, contact Legend eBikes before taking the eBike to a workshop. Obtain written authorisation before any reimbursable work is carried out.

What should I do if my eBike is stolen?

    1. Report the theft to the police. Give them the purchase invoice, serial number or eSN, photographs and any identifying details.
    2. Notify your insurer if the eBike is insured.
    3. Contact support@legendebikes.com with the police report, order or invoice number and serial number. We can record the report and explain any account or ownership options available for your system, but we cannot guarantee that the eBike can be remotely blocked or recovered.
    4. Change your My SmartBike password if you believe your account details may have been compromised.

My SmartBike is not a continuous GPS tracking service. Any location information depends on a compatible phone, app permissions and a connection to the eBike, so it cannot be relied on to locate a stolen bike.

The electric lock function is available only on compatible and correctly configured MAHLE systems. It is not a substitute for a strong physical lock secured to a fixed object.

Do not try to recover the eBike yourself. Give any location or sale information to the police.

What is the R200 range test?

R200 is a standardised method for comparing the range of electrically power-assisted cycles under repeatable conditions. It is described in DIN/TS 31064 together with the EC200 energy-consumption test.

R200 is a comparative laboratory or controlled-test method, not a vehicle type approval or homologation. It helps explain why the same battery can provide different range in different eBike designs.

The reference test uses defined conditions, including:

    • Rough terrain on poorly maintained asphalt with light wind.
    • A total system weight of 100 kg, including the rider, eBike and luggage.
    • An average rider input of 70 W and a cruiser riding position.
    • A medium start frequency, an average speed of 20 km/h and a cadence of 60 rpm.
    • An eBike in as-new condition, an assistance factor of 200% and the lights switched off.

Results obtained under these conditions are useful for comparison, but they do not guarantee the distance you will achieve. Actual range varies with assistance level, speed, rider and luggage weight, route, gradients, wind, temperature, tyre pressure, riding style and battery condition.

See the official DIN/TS 31064 publication record.

Where can I download the EN 15194 declaration of conformity?

Download the relevant EU declaration of conformity from our official website. Select the document for the exact model and version of your eBike.

EN 15194 is the European standard for electrically power-assisted cycles covered by its scope. The EU declaration of conformity records the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets the applicable requirements. It is not an R200 result or a general vehicle type-approval certificate.

If an authority, insurer or dealer asks for a document that is not listed, contact us with the model, serial number and purchase details.

Where can I find technical documentation?

    Use the following official resources:

Make sure the manual matches your exact model and component version. If you are unsure, contact support with the model and serial number.
