    Assembly and initial commissioning

    The e-bike is practically pre-assembled and set. You only have to consider the following points before you can start driving.

    Assembly of the pedals: The pedals have a special setting system. If you assemble you, you should make sure that you have selected the right pedal for the crank: we put the right pedal on the right crank, marked with the letter r (right); And the left pedal on the left crank, displayed with the letter L (left). Always screw the pedals on the crank. Do not try to turn the screw with violence, as this could damage the threads and make it unusable. Use a 6 mm inner socket wrench or a 15 mm fork key to screw the pedals onto the cranks. Check regularly.

    Tire pressure:  Make sure the tires are pumped up between 2.5 and 3.2 bar. Please note that when choosing the Legend Siena model, the tires are ventilated to facilitate transport.

    Additional information for the Legend Etna and Legend Milano models:

    Set the handlebar: Align the handlebar and tighten the 2 screws to 5 N m (4 mm inbus key).

    Mount the front wheel of the bike: Attach the front wheel with a 15 mm fork key.

    Our bikes have a sliding aid, but not a start -up aid.

    The pushing aid serves the purpose of supporting the user in pushing the bicycle (e.g. uphill).

    The fact that our bikes are equipped with a PAS sensor that gives 32 impulses per revolution is enough to turn the pedals to start the engine. As a result, the engine almost turns on immediately, which means that start -up aid is not required.

    The use of an electric bike resembles that of a conventional, mechanical bike, but differentiated with some noteworthy. If you have not yet driven on an e-bike, you should take some safety precautions before the first trip to familiarize yourself with the system. On the one hand, an electric bike is more difficult to extend the brake path. You should choose a seating position that is pleasant and safe, so that you will quickly and safely come to a standstill in the event of a danger braking. Wear a helmet and choose a controlled environment, far from cars, other cyclists, obstacles and unforeseen events.

    Make sure that the battery is locked up within the framework. Otherwise there is a risk that the battery will detach and be damaged while driving.

    1. Familiarize yourself with the brakes. Test them at low speed, shift your weight back and gently press the brake lever. Excessive activity of the front brake can lead to the fall.

    2. The wheel can block too strong and lead to the loss of control or even fall.

    3. If your bike has a suspension, familiarize yourself with the response of the suspension when braking and the shift in weight.

    4. Check the driving behavior and the response of the bike in general and find a comfortable seating position and attitude.

    5. Check the speed of the bike with the help of the brakes.

    The bike can speed up quickly from a standing position and surprise you. Make sure you always have the necessary space.

    Yes! With all of our e-bikes, electronic support acts as a pedal support and is therefore only started by actively acting. The background is legal. E-bikes, the engines of which are started at the push of a button, for example by a thumb gas lever, are considered motor vehicles in the interests of the legislator and are therefore not allowed to drive on bicycle paths.

    So -called pedelecs, on the other hand, are considered bicycles in the interests of the legislator. Pedelecs are primarily defined by those pedal support, as well as a top speed of 25 km/h to which the engine supports.

    With all the power and the smart properties, our legend e-bikes remain bicycles. If you want to kick yourself, you simply leave out the drive system or drive at support level 0 to use your bike in a classic way.

    Before the first trip, the battery must be loaded with the charger supplied for 4 to 6 hours.

    1. Connect the charger to the socket. You will find that the control lamp on the charger shines green, which means that the device works properly.

    2. connect the charger to the battery. The charging control lamp shines red as the battery is loaded. Remember that you can charge your battery in the bike via the connection to the left side of the frame, or if you can also charge it from the frame outside the bike.

    3. When the battery is fully charged, the charging control lamp returns to its original green color.

    4. To separate the charger, it is recommended to separate it from the battery and then from the socket.

    5. If the battery is completely discharged, the loading time is between 6 and 8 hours.

    6. Do not cover the charger or the battery during the charging process, otherwise there is a risk of fire due to the heat formation.

    Use the original charger for charging the battery, otherwise the battery and electronics are not covered by the guarantee.

    On our website you will also find a quick charger that halves the loading time.

    Each of our models has a chain circuit, in which, in contrast to the hub circuit, the corridors should not be changed. This should happen while driving.

    As far as the support levels of electrical support are concerned, this can be changed both in the stand and while driving.

    The weight of our batteries is:

    Monza / Etna:

    BACH 36V 8AH -> Weight: 2.3 kg

    BACKU 36V 10.4Ah -> Weight: 2.4 kg

    BACKU 36V 14AH -> Weight: 2.4 kg

    Milano:

    BACH 36V 10.4Ah -> Weight: 2.65 kg

    BACKU 36V 14AH -> Weight: 2.65 kg

    Siena:

    BACH 36V 10.4Ah -> Weight: 2.8 kg

    BACKU 36V 14AH -> Weight: 2.8 kg

    The pedals are equipped with a special adjustment system. Make sure when installing, that you have selected the pedal, which corresponds to the right crank. The pedal assigned to the right crank is with the Letter r (right) and the pedal assigned to the left crank with the Letters L (Left) characterized.

    Make sure the threads are free and, if possible, grease it easily. Always screw the pedals with the crank in the direction of travel. Make sure not to screw the pedals too firmly, as this could damage the threads and make it unusable.

    None of our current models has an LCD display included in the scope of delivery! Our bikes stand out as smart e-bikes from other e-bikes through their property. We make use of the technology from the German engine manufacturer Mahle, who, with Mahle Smart Bike Systems, who, with his technology, took the step from a simple e-bike to the smart e-bike.

    The joystick has 5 keys and several LEDs that display the basic information (battery status and support level). This means that the drive system is self -sufficient and for the exercise of the basic functions on no LCD display. However, if you connect the joystick with a smartphone by bluetooth connection, you immerse yourself in the modern world of Mahle Smart Bike Systems.

    The analysis of maximum, minimum and average speed, calorie consumption, height and the conditions of the route create completely new possibilities to evaluate the routes driven, call up or outdate personal best performances and to share milestones via social media platforms such as Facebook or Strava with friends.

    maintenance

    Global maintenance

    Clean, adjust, inflate and smear. This is the basic maintenance protocol for a conventional bicycle that applies to an electric bike. It is very important, Check the bike after use to extend the lifespan of the components. We recommend that you carefully follow the following instructions:

    1. Clean You all areas of the bicycle with rags, paper and water moistened with soap and water, but not with caustic products such as alcohol or turpentine. An air compressor can be very useful.

    2. Check the Condition of the wheels or tires on cuts, Cracks or crusted objects such as stones, glass or stick.

    3. Brake Should the coverings have close to the window, but do not touch it. If the brake lever is operated with little force, the brake should work immediately. The coverings must be perfectly set to avoid noises and uneven brakes.

    4. The cabling must not be too stiff, because in the event of temperature and usage changes, the material expands and can detach itself up to the break if the force is excessive.

    5. Make sure that the Chain Runs smoothly outside of their mechanism.

    6. Due to the vibrations occurring during use, we have to regularly Check the firm seat of the screws and bolts, mainly on the wheels, on the saddle and on the handlebar.

    7. Grease them The bottom bracket and wheel hubs.

    8. No passengers and no heavy objects ( Sable of the luggage rack: a maximum of 27 kg) with you because they can damage the battery and the engine.

    Do not use water under pressure.

    Battery expectation

    All Legend eBikes Electric bicycles are with Lithium batteries operated. To charge the battery, put the charger into the socket. You will find that the control lamp on the charger lights up green to indicate that the device works properly. Need except charging These batteries no further maintenance. In order to extend the lifespan of the battery, they do not store the bike in places where the temperature may fall below zero degrees or can exceed 50 ° C.

    To maximize the battery lifetry to keep these tips:

    1. Don't wait until the battery is completely empty before you charge it. Remember that the more you charge your battery, the higher the performance you draw from it.

    2. Keep the battery 50 % of its load.

    3. Store it in a cool, dry place and charge it at least every two months.

    4. Make sure not to unload the battery completely over a long time or to store them in a fully loaded manner.

    5. Hold the battery half loaded if you do not use your smart ebike for a long time.

    6. Due to the natural self-discharge of lithium-ion cells, you should check the loading status every 2 months and charge for 30 minutes.

    Engine maintenance

    To optimize the engine output, please follow the instructions below:

    1. Avoid the idle of the engine and try to support the engine with the power of your legs. This prevents the engine and/or the battery from overheating.

    2. When it rains, the bike should not be used on floors on which the water level covers the engine.

    Electrical maintenance

    The controller is installed within the frame near the folding area. It is very important to consider the following points:

    1. Do not dive into water.

    2. Tap or open it.

    Note: If water penetrates the control unit, switch off the main stream immediately and drive without electrical support until you are sure that it is dry. Then you can turn on the pedal support system.

    Don't try to open the controller box. Any attempt to modify or adapt it is not covered by the guarantee. Ask your dealer or the legend service for help.

    All legend e-bikes are with Lithium batteries operated. Battery of this type do not require any further maintenance. In order to extend the lifespan of the battery, the bike should not be stored in places, under 0 ° C or over 50 ° C.

    The lifespan of a battery is usually given in charging cycles. This often leads to the wrong assumption that the battery only has to be loaded in the empty as possible in order to load it less often. However, a charging cycle represents a complete cargo, regardless of whether it is loaded on one train or, for example, 5 times 20%. In this respect, you shouldn't hesitate to load the battery.

    Following the following tips helps you to maximize the lifespan and capacity of your battery:

    1. Don't wait until the battery is completely empty before you rescue it.

    2. Laay it in a cool, dry place and load it up at least every two months.

    3. Make sure not to unload the battery completely over a long time or to store them in a fully loaded manner.

    4. Hold the battery in the event of storage with a load of 30 - 60%.

    5. Due to the natural self-discharge of lithium-ion cells, you should check the loading status about every 2 months and load if necessary.

    To optimize the engine power, please follow the following instructions:

    1. The engine of your pedelec is a pedal support and should be used as such. Avoid moving the bike exclusively via motor support in order to avoid overheating the engine and/or the battery.

    2. The engine, like all other components, is splash -proof and should not be treated with too much moisture. In this respect, high -pressure cleaners or washes are foreseeable. A damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning.

    Motor, battery, electronics

    How many kilometers can I cover with an electric bike?

    A question that we hear in our offices every day and that the user of an electric bike takes into account, but this requires a somewhat more complex answer than a simple number. The autonomy calculation of each vehicle, including electric bicycles, reacts to a very simple formula that results from the amount of energy we have, the speed we drive with and the energy consumption of the vehicle.

    What range can I expect from an electric bike?

    Let's take an example with one of our electric bikes.

    Suppose we bought a legend Monza with a 36V 10.4ah battery. Well, the amount of energy we have is 36 V x 10.4 AH = 374.4 Wh. If we set a consumption of 5 Wh per kilometer to keep a speed of 25 km / h, the equation is easy.

    Autonomy = capacity / consumption

    Autonomy = 374.4 / 5 = 74.9 km.

    However, adapting the model to reality requires the consideration of many factors. The difficulty is that the consumption of the bicycle cannot be predicted.

    In the specifications of a battery, a number is usually used within an approximate threshold. One of the reasons why it is not a round number is very simple, and that is that we will never occur on a completely level climb. If we say that you can cover seventy or eighty kilometers with full loading, we think that this distance is correct if we move on a surface without climbing, which is very complicated in any geographical environment, i.e. if we have a slope of 10º constantly, ride up, probably our battery trims much less with full load. In the same way, our battery lasts much longer than stated when we drive down a slope without stopping.

    The number of visitors is another crucial factor. Usually there are usually five levels from the lowest to the highest degree of pedal support, with which we can extend the battery charge to really long distances when we move at a low to medium level. The maximum level generates the maximum performance and this obviously leads to an additional load on the battery charge. Also also affects what we like to call the cyclist to the bike ", that is, when you speak of a bicycle with pedal support, there are two sources of drive: the electric motor and the human engine. These two forces work in a system with a cadence sensor independently of each other, so that we can say that the less strength it brings up when the cyclist is the lesser.

    Another factor to be taken into account is the weight that moves the engine. Here, too, the estimates are based on the “usual” standards, namely the weight of the electric bike plus the weight of the driver. These values are given in weights of 20 kilograms for the electric bike and 70/80 kilograms for the individual.

    If the routes we ride by bike have a lot of stops, such as traffic lights, autonomy also suffers because the consumption is very high from a standstill to a speed of 25 km / h.

    Once a customer complained to our technical department and called for an immediate change of battery because he could not cover the distances given in the catalog. The shipping was carried out and this was analyzed when the supposedly defective battery was picked up, whereby somewhat worrying results were achieved because the battery worked properly. A few days later, the customer called us again with monumental dissatisfaction, since the new battery did not reach the 70/80 kilometers specified and we decided to find out what really happened. The customer insisted that he moved in the city and that bumps were unusual on the street, and although he always took the maximum support, it was not logical that the decline in kilometers per battery charge was so significant. In the end it turned out that the customer was 1.95 cm tall and 122 kilos weighed, which made it impossible to drive 70/80 kilometers with a single load.

    For this reason, when buying an electric bike battery, we cannot know exactly how many kilometers it will cover per load, but we can estimate a number that takes all the above factors into account.

    We offer our bikes in two different versions, which differ only from the supplied battery.

    The only difference lies in the capacity of the batteries.

    36V 10.4 AH Sanyo panasonic: up to 80 km range*

    36V 14 AH Panasonic: up to 100 km range*

    * A tour is a tour, dangers of a 70 kg cyclist, on a flat surface, without stopover at support level 1.

    Both batteries have thermal and electronic BMS sensors that are programmed in such a way that they ensure optimal operation when charging and unloading. Cells of the Sanyo and Panasonic brands, which stand for reliability and durability, are installed.

    The models Siena, Monza and Milano are equipped with front and rear light as standard. In these models, the lights are fed directly from the battery.

    The lights of the Etna Models are not included as standard and must be purchased separately. With this model, the lights are not connected to the battery.
